THE INSURANCE CORNER: By Todd Minard
As members of the Knights of Columbus, this is your insurance company. As you know, our top-rated Knights of Columbus Insurance Program fulfills two important functions: 1) it is how we strive to uphold Father Michael J. McGivney’s primary purpose of the Knights to render financial aid to members and their families and 2) the insurance program contributes significantly to the charitable giving and activities the Order does around the world. You have much to be proud of.
Knights of Columbus life insurance in force reached $70 billion at the end of 2008, setting a new all-time record. It was the eighth consecutive year of insurance sales growth for the Order. While impressive on its own it is even more so considering these difficult economic times. Many other companies had a year of decline yet the Knights of Columbus continued to grow. This just proves brother knights know who to trust and how vitally important it is to protect their families.
Our founder, Father Michael J. McGivney, believed strongly that we should provide every Catholic man with the means to protect his family from financial ruin by offering a sound, professionally-run life insurance program. The size and strength of our insurance program is a worthy testament to his far-sighted vision.
One of your fraternal benefits is a no obligation free analysis of your insurance needs and help determining the right amount and type of coverage. Contact me for a review of your insurance program. It is important to know what you have and what you need, what your benefits and options are, keep your beneficiary information up to date, etc. Also keep in mind that the Knights offer Annuities, Long-Term Care Insurance and can help brothers with business needs such as key-man insurance, funding buy-sell agreements, executive bonus and more.
